Tadashi Muto is a 3rd year player and the starting Power Forward of Kainan High School. He wears the No. 9 jersey. He is 184 cm and weighs 75 kg.

Abilities[]

Though Muto is not as famous as the team's star players like Shinichi Maki and Soichiro Jin, he is a solid player in all aspects of the game befitting of a Kainan starter.

Muto dribbles at a high level, being able to bypass Ryota Miyagi and Kaede Rukawa by himself with consecutive spin dribbles. He is also a good playmaker and can run a fastbreak or draw defenders in before playmaking for an assist. He's also capable of performing dunks with decent jumping power.

Muto's stamina is incredibly high, and he almost always plays every minute of matches; he usually only subs off when a game is a blowout win (i.e. against Takezato) or a major tactical tweak is made (i.e. subbing off for Miyamasu v. Shohoku). He sometimes get beat in his defensive matchups, but he is a solid defender overall.

When Maki is not on the court, Muto takes up the leadership role and is the vocal leader for his team.

Plot[]

Muto and Jin were the only 2 out of the regular starters that started against Takezono High School. Muto was the vocal leader on the court in Maki's absence. Due to Tatsumasa Oda's ankle injury, Kainan demolished Takezono 150-78.

Muto started against Shohoku. He struggled to contain Hanamichi Sakuragi from constantly rebounding the ball during the early part of the 1st half. Maki eventually swapped matchups with Muto to guard Sakuragi, then Coach Takato eventually subbed in Yoshinori Miyamasu for Jin in order to nullify Sakuragi. When Shohoku begin implementing a 4-man trap against Maki in the 2nd half, Muto was subbed off for Miyamasu to stretch the floor and give Maki more room to penetrate. Kainan won the match 90-88.

Muto started and played the entire match against Ryonan High School. Early on in the match, he struggled to contain Kicchou Fukuda from scoring. However, Muto along with the rest of his team began to contain Ryonan in the 2nd half, and eventually forced Fukuda to sub out for Ryoji Ikegami. Even when Fukuda came back in, he could not go on a scoring spree like he did in the first half. Kainan won in overtime 89-83.

Aside from Kiyota, all other starters including Muto were rested toward the end of the match against Takezato in a 98-51 blowout win. This sealed Kainan's 17th consecutive first place finish at the annual Kanagawa Tournament.

Muto was the first from Kainan to point out that Coach Anzai was missing from Shohoku's bench during their warm-ups. After Shohoku defeated Ryonan, Muto and his team went down to the award ceremony to be crowned champions of the tournament.

Muto is often seen with his team at the National Inter High Tournament. Muto watched both of Shohoku's matches at the tournament against Toyotama and Sannoh. He witnessed Shohoku's historic victory against Sannoh and saw Sannoh's consecutive championship run come to an end.

Muto and his team lost in the finals at the National Inter High Tournament and placed 2nd in the nation.
