Hiroaki Koshino (越野 宏明 Koshino Hiroaki) is the Shooting Guard of Ryonan High School.
Personality[]
He has a rather dry wit and a quick temper, being readily offended by rude behavior from Sakuragi and Kiyota.
Abilities[]
Although Koshino isn't up to the level of Hisashi Mitsui of Shohoku or the prefecture's best Soichiro Jin of Kainan, he is still a good long range shooter. While skilled, he is somehow physically weak as Sakuragi effortlessly protect the ball away from him, throwing him on Uozumi, and outran him for the ball.
Plot[]
Koshino started and played the entire match of Ryonan vs Shohoku which ended in Ryonan's victory at 87-86. During the first half, Koshino recognized and exclaimed a spy listening to their huddle during their timeout, which turned out to be Sakuragi.
Koshino started against Ryonan v. Kainan. He tried to block Maki's layup during Kainan's fastbreak (despite Sendoh's warning), but ended up fouling and giving up an And-1 opportunity. This along with Kiyota's dunk in the previous play ignited a 16-2 scoring run for Kainan and allowed them to catch up in points.
Etymology[]
- The name Hiroaki means "wide, large" (宏) (hiro) and "bright, light, clear" (明) (aki).
- Hiroaki's surname Koshino means "surpass, cross over, move to, exceed, Vietnam" (越) (koshi) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
