Fujii is Haruko Akagi's friend who, along with their friend Matsui, usually accompany Haruko to Shohoku's basketball matches and practices.
Fujii has a timid and shy personality compared to Haruko or Matsui, and is much more soft-spoken.
During Shohoku v. Ryonan, Fujii attempts a cheer for Shohoku while Haruko is gone to check in on her injured brother Takenori Akagi. However, she was so quiet that even Matsui standing next to her couldn't hear what Fujii was trying to say.
After Shohoku's loss to Ryonan in their first practice match, Fujii tells Hanamichi Sakuragi that she was moved by the performance despite the loss. Matsui adds that Fujii initially went to merely support Haruko, but ended up cheering a lot herself, which makes Fujii blush.
