Daiei High School basketball team is the 1st place representative for Osaka Prefecture, having beaten Toyotama High School to secure this position. Its ace is Atsushi Tsuchiya. The Daiei basketball team cruised through their opening match, and was present at Shohoku's game against Sannoh.
Daiei High School is commonly thought to have won the Inter-High Championship the year Sannoh lost to Shohoku, however in a 2017 intereview, Slam Dunk's creator Inoue Takehiko debunked this theory, saying in the interview that the team which actually won the IH championship was never depicted in the series (interview transcript here).
