Summary[]
Hanamichi meets Rukawa for the first time
At the schools' rooftop, a furious Rukawa easily beats up Norio Hotta and his gang. Meanwhile, in class, Mito informs Sakuragi, seniors or no seniors, it doesn't matter; we will give them a significant beating. Chuichirou, Nozomi, and Yuji also join them. Upon entering the schools' rooftop, they notice a beaten-up Norit Hotta and his gang lying on the ground. Mito questions the first-year student if he's the one who is responsible for this recent incident. Rukawa then introduces himself to Sakuragi and his colleagues. Hanamichi, upon hearing his name, gets furious and remembers that he is the one Haruko was mentioning. Sakuragi angrily stares at him and tries to measure his height against himself. Mito is amazed that this first-year student easily beat up the infamous Noria Hotta and his gang. While walking in one of the school hallways, Haruko glances across the window and sees an angry Sakuragi and Rukawa about to get into a fight at the schools' rooftop. Agaki rushes towards them and yells at Hanamichi to stop fighting. She notices Rukawa's injuries and informs Sakuragi that all of her friends at school were right about him, and she misjudged him for being a nice person.
Upon hearing Haruko's misjudgment about him, Hanamichi becomes depressed. Haruko then asks Rukawa about his wellbeing and requests to assist him to the schools' clinic. Rukawa angrily replies that she is being too noisy and should leave. Hanamichi notices Rukawa's rude behavior toward Haruko and angrily punches him. Akagi once again yells at Sakuragi to stop fighting. Rukawa angrily replies to Hanamichi with his punch. Again, Haruko asks Rukawa for his wellbeing, and he informs Akagi that didn't he tell her not to interrupt, and then he leaves. Seeing Rukawa's cold demeanor, Haruko tears up a little and, while leaving, informs Sakuragi that he went too far this time and she hates him.
A low-spirited Hanamichi tells his colleagues that he feels heartbroken at what Haruko said to him and life to him now seems meaningless. Sakuragi then attempts to jump off the school's rooftop; Mito and his colleagues try to calm down a depressed Hanamichi. Rukawa, while going down the staircase, notices his severe injuries and curses Sakuragi. Thus, upon their first frantic meeting, Sakuragi and Rukawa would become each other's, mortal enemies.
