Takenori and Kogure having a conversation at a Cafe
Meanwhile, at a close-by café, Kogure compliments Hanamichi's stepped forward progress, and states is not that cute that their newbie freshman is now willingly working towards on his own. Judging from Hanamichi's by no means-giving-up mentality, Kogure is assured their freshman is someone who may not lose or back off on dealing with professional opponents. Takenori smiles, and he offers his opinion that Hanamichi is a troublemaker, and he does not locate him cute. Takenori approves for an athlete. It is vital to have that mind-set of by no means giving up. Kogure consents together along with his pal and states that Hanamichi is someone who learns fast and is assured that their newbie member in the future turns into a professional basketball who will lead their crew to victory. Takenori disagrees and states that Hanamichi's tough nature will wreck their basketball crew, and he's someone who opposes violence. Kogure smiles and assures his pal that Hanamichi will now no longer purpose any damage to their crew. At the Shohuko High basketball court, an irritated Hanamichi headbutts Hikoichi.
Meanwhile, at a nearby coffee shop, Kogure praises Hanamichi's progress and says it's not as adorable as her beginners are now willing to practice on their own. Judging by the constant spirit of Hanamichi, she is convinced that Kogure is a newcomer who will not lose or be shy to strong enemies. Takenori smiles and she expresses her opinion that Hanamichi is a troublemaker and she doesn't think she loves him. Takenori has been approved by the athlete. It is important that he never gives up. Kogure agrees with a friend, explaining that Hanamichi is a quick learner and is confident that one day their new members will become skilled basketball players who will lead the team to victory. Takenori disagrees, saying that Hanamichi's annoying personality ruins the basketball team and resists violence. Kogure smiles and assures his friends that Hanamichi does not harm the team. An angry Hanamichi hits Hikoichi with his head at the basketball court at Shoko High School.
Hikoichi falls to the ground and asks Hanamichi why he did that. Hanamichi gets angry and declares that he is not Rukawa and urges Hikoichi not to compare him to that useless Rukawa. Hikoichi confuses and asks what it means for Rukawa to be of no use. Hanamichi replied that he didn't know what kind of athlete Rukawa was before he entered high school. According to him, Rukawa's basketball ability is at an intermediate level. Besides him, there is another experienced person on her team, and Hanamichi confidently describes herself as the wall of the Shohuko High basketball team. Hanamichi then asks Hikoichi that besides Rukawa, he must have heard about their team captain Takenori. Hikoichi agrees and comments that his team's center ace and Captain Jun Uozumi have talked highly about Takenori. At every training session, Uozumi 's primary goal is to defeat Takenori.

Jun Uozumi series first appearance
Meanwhile, at a nearby cafe, Kogure expects Takenori to look forward to this practice match and meet his rival Uozumi. Kogure praised Uozumi's basketball skills and stated that he is only two meters tall, so only Takenori can protect him well. At Shohoku High School's basketball court, Hikoichi informed Hanamichi that his team had won the match and scored 100 points at the final meeting with Shohoku High School. However, due to Takenori's excellent defensive power, Uozumi was unable to score many points. Since that day, Uozumi has continued to train seriously and vowed to defeat Takenori. Hikoichi praises Captain's basketball skills and wants to be a skilled athlete like him. His captain, Takenori, who heard the praise of Hanamichi, is undoubtedly a talented basketball player. Hikoichi asks Hanamichi, is it Takenori? Hanamichi gets angry and hits Hikoichi again with his head. Hanamichi was angry and told Hikoichi not to compare him to Takenori, calling his captain a gorilla. Hikoichi replies that he doesn't know what Takenori looks like and tells him to stop hitting Hanamichi. Hanamichi mentions his captain and confidently states that he is the successor to Takenori.
Hikoichi is the successor to Takenori, though he is surprised and confused. Witnessing Hanamichi's extraordinary jumping ability and tall, muscular physique, Hikoichi agrees with Hanamichi's claims and apologizes for his past rude behavior. He replies that Hanamichi is okay. Hikoichi praises Hanamichi as a person with good manners. Hanamichi confidently says he broke the rules in a friendly match. Upon hearing this, Hikoichi bows confusingly and once again apologizes to Hanamichi for his previous rude behavior. Hanamichi replies that it's okay again. In shock and turmoil, Hikoichi criticizes the captain, Uozumi, for being the only and best center in the prefecture. After that, Takenori was the only talented player and lost to Hanamichi. Hikoichi looks at the sneakers worn by Hanamichi and asks why he isn't wearing basketball shoes. He is confused about Hanamichi and asks what it means. Hikoichi replies that in order to play basketball, you should wear basketball sports sneakers. Hikoichi tells Hanamichi that he is wearing sockless sneakers.
Hanamichi asks how much does a pair of basketball sneakers cost? Hikoichi feels bad for Hanamichi and considerately apologizes again. Hikoichi then assumes that Hanamichi must be from the low-income family background. A regular pair of basketball sneakers cost between 10,000 to 20,000 yen. Hikoichi then again critiques himself that he is a moron and why he asked this question to Hanamichi. It doesn`t matter one wears basketball sneakers or not. Hanamichi asks Hikoichi what his name is. Hikoichi then introduces himself. Hanamichi smiles and urges Hikoichi to do his research adequately. Hanamichi then confidently states that he is the best member of his team. Hikoichi is excited and sometimes comments that Hanamichi is a great person and asks for research. Hikoichi is convinced that Hanamichi must be the best member of his team. Hikoichi politely shakes hands with Hanamichi to inform him of the schedule of the practice game. He analyzes it thoroughly.
At a nearby coffee shop, Kogure asks Takenori about the appropriate position and role for Hanamichi in the next practice match. If their freshman can control his emotion, he can indeed become a vital member of their team. Takenori disagrees and replies that Hanamichi is a substitute member and he will not allow him to participate in the match. At the Shohuko High basketball court, after shaking hands with Hanamichi, Hikoichi compliments that he has a firm hand grip, according to him crucial skill for a basketball player. Hanamichi asks Hikoichi will he be participating in the practice match. Hikoichi replies he is a complete novice and he will not have the opportunity to compete in the practice match. Hikoichi changes his attitude and confidently explains that it is not easy to defeat Akira Sendoh, the ace of the team, and he is aiming to be a basketball player like him. Hanamichi seriously answers Ace!
Kogure continued to analyze his opponent, Ryonan Hai, saying her team had to find a way to stop Sendo. If they fail, they will lose the match. Takenori agreed, she replied that since the addition of Sendo, her team has become stronger and uncertain about how to defend against him. Kogure tells Takenori that he cannot protect Sendo because his opponent is Uozumi. Takenori agrees and states that it might be too early for their skilled freshman. Rukawa is the only competent individual on their team who can take on the role of guarding Sendoh. Kogure agrees and is confident in Hanamichi's improved progression that if he can become an athlete like Rukawa, their team will become stronger at their prefecture. Takenori again disagrees and gives his opinion that Hanamichi cannot become a skilled basketball player in such a short time. Kogure agrees with his friend's assertion and urges him that their team needs to find a way to guard Sendoh; otherwise, they would lose. At Shohuko High basketball court, Hanamichi requests Hikoichi to convey his message to their team ace Akira Sendoh the one who will defeat him will be Sakuragi Hanamichi.
