Summary[]
Haruko asking Sakuragi about his wellbeing
Sakuragi, in his classroom, is daydreaming about his yesterday's encounter at the schools' basketball court. During that time, Haruko arrives and asks Hanamachi about his wellbeing. Yohei Mito, Sakuragi's closest friend, informs Akagi not to worry cause Hanamachi's forehead is like a solid rock. The basketball hoop is the one that should be careful. Haruko then hands out Sakuragi the basketball team registration forms and leaves. Fujii, Haruko's best friend, informs that Hanamachi and his friends were infamous for getting in trouble in their middle school. Haruko tells Fuji, Sakuragi is a nice guy, and there is no need for her to worry.
After Haruko's departure, Mito informs Sakuragi that Akagi is a nice and innocent girl, however, he should not indulge in getting in a relationship with her cause she might have a boyfriend. Hanamachi gets a bit nervous and remembers Haruko telling him about another freshman Rukawa Kaede. To confirm, Sakuragi goes to Akagi and asks is Rukawa, her boyfriend. Haruko blushes and informs that Rukawa doesn't even know she exists. A confident Hanamachi stares angrily at his friends that he might have a chance of getting in a relationship with Haruko.

Rukawa Kaede
Haruko informs Hanamachi that Rukawa was a member of the Fukyo Middle School basketball team, and her school was closest to his, and both their schools would often have practice games. Haruko informs Rukawa is an extremely skilled basketball player, and her school lost almost all their practice matches against his school. Like his brother Rukawa, another middle school player could perform dunks, and his wonderful playstyle is engraved in her heart. A confused Sakuragi asks Haruko could it be she is in love with him. Akagi informs it is a one-sided relationship. Upon hearing Hanamachi leaves and his friends tease him and celebrate his first relationship rejection at high school. A teared-up Sakuragi stares at them and quietly walks away. Norio Hotta and his gang approach Hanamachi in his class and demand that he meets them in the afternoon at the schools' rooftop. Sakuragi yells at him and informs him that he won't run away. Mito also joins in the conversation and informs Norio that they won't be intimidated by them. Norio and his gang head towards the schools' rooftop and sees a sleeping Rukawa on the ground. Norio kicks Rukawa in the head and informs him that this is not the place to sleep. A furious Rukawa wakes up and tells them he doesn't like people who disturb him in his sleep, and all of a sudden, a brawl takes place.
