Haruko having a friendly argument with Rukawa's Fan girls over Hanamichi
After having an intense bout with the Judo team, captain Aota, Hanamichi, heads to the basketball locker room. While changing his attire questions himself; he forgot to ask Aota what his relationship with Haruko is? And he is also amazed at the extensive collection of photographs he has of Haruko. After changing into his basketball apparel, Hanamichi furiously heads towards the basketball court. Upon entry, he sees Haruko and happily greets her. An energized Takenori sees Hanamichi and angrily informs him that he is late for practice. Kogure and Ayako smile at their Captain's behavior and feel happy that Hanamichi didn't quit the team. The training session begins, and the team sprints around the court. Upon their conclusion of the sprint training, Hanamichi asks his seniors that their Captain looks a bit fired up and asks, did something good happen to him. Kogure and Ayako smile at Hanamichi's question. Both don't respond to him and recall when Sakuragi said he would continue playing basketball because he is a basketball player.
Shohuko High coach Anzai enters the basketball court. Everyone on the team respectfully greets him. Takenori gets angry at his team members and instructs them that they need to put more effort when welcoming their coach. Next is shooting practice. A depressed Hanamichi asks his manager, Ayako, when he will get an opportunity to train alongside his other teammates. Takenori requests his coach, Anzai, to allow Hanamichi to practice alongside them. Sakuragi overhears it and questions his Captain that something is wrong with him and why he is being nice all of a sudden. Takenori sees his weird behavior and jokingly smacks in the head. An excited Hanamichi tells himself that his Captain must have finally realized his talent, and he will get the opportunity to show off in front of Haruko. Outside the court, the three fangirls of Rukawa notice Hanamichi's childish behavior and make fun of him. Haruko overhears them and gets in a small friendly argument with them. Haruko questions and criticizes them and informs them that they shouldn't make fun of Sakuragi since he is trying so hard every day to learn the basics of basketball, and upon concluding, Haruko states that they should be ashamed of themselves. Ayako notices the small argument taking place outside and doesn't indulge in stopping them.

Takenori requests Rukawa to demonstrate how to shoot the ball properly. The three fangirls of his see that Rukawa is about to start practicing; they stopped arguing with Haruko and begin to cheer him on. Hanamichi notices their loud behavior and gets a bit irritated. Takenori instructs Sakuragi to ignore them, and he should concentrate on seeing Rukawa show him the basics of shooting the ball properly. Rukawa efficiently demonstrates the layup shot; after witnessing the three fangirls of his cheer him on. Hanamichi gets irritated by their support, and Takenori instructs Sakuragi that it is his turn to demonstrate the layup shot. An excited Sakuragi tells himself that it is his turn finally to show off in front of Haruko and informs Takenori that he will attempt to dunk instead of demonstrating the layup shot. Upon hearing, Takenori refuses and states that many players will be guarding him during the official matches, so he needs to learn all the different forms of shooting. Sakuragi agrees to his Captain's opinion and attempts to do the layup shot. While heading towards the basketball hoop, Hanamichi suddenly changes his mind and tries to dunk. Takenori notices and furiously throws the basketball at Sakuragi. Then the two of them get into a friendly argument.
