Haruko sees Sakuragi and his friends

Haruko sees Sakuragi and his friends

Aota, the Judo team's captain, informs Takenori and Kogure that he has found an exciting first-year student named Sakuragi Hanamichi, and he is deciding to recruit him. Upon hearing, Takenori becomes upset and looks at Aota furiously. The following day Hanamichi and his friends sneakingly watch Haruko and her colleagues as they participate in their Phys Ed class. Haruko sees Hanamichi and his friends, and she greets them. The Phys Ed teacher notices and furiously tells Haruko to concentrate on her gym class. Hanamichi sees the rude behavior of the Phys Ed instructor towards Haruko and angrily tries to confront him. Before he can do that, Aota, the Judo team captain, is also sneakingly watching Haruko and, similar to Hanamichi, was also about to confront the Phys Ed teacher. Both, Hanamichi and Aota stare at each other. The rest of the gym teachers sees them and, for punishment, tries to take both of them to the principal's office. Hanamichi tries to fight his way out and divert the teacher's attention, stating that more students are escaping, referring to his friends. Sakuragi then sneakingly runs away. One of the Phys Ed instructors says that Hanamichi is a strong individual, Aota compared to Hanamichi, gets caught and notices Sakuragi's exceptional fighting skills, and becomes excited even more to recruit him.

Afterward, Aota meets Takenori and Kogure and states that he is seriously considering recruiting Sakuragi Hanamichi to join his Judo club. Further informs that the teenager has exceptional fighting skills and believes that the basketball club isn't suited for him. Upon hearing, Kogure tells Aota that he can not decide what other people's likes and dislikes are. Aota disagrees and believes that Sakuragi joined the basketball club only to impress Haruko. Takenori informs Aota that Hanamichi joined the basketball club at his own will, and if he decides to quit the team, it will be his decision, and he walks away. Later, Aota meets Hanamichi in one of the schools' hallways and tries to speak to him.

Midway through their conversation, Haruko sees them and heads over to greet both of them. Aota and Hanamichi politely greet her as well. Aota praises Haroko for her attractive appearance. Upon hearing, Hanamichi gets a bit jealous and believes he likes Haruko. Aota then courteously excuses himself and informs Haruko that he has to talk to Hanamichi on a specific matter. Later on, Aota takes Hanamichi to his Judo gym and states that he was born to be a Judo athlete. Hanamichi ignores his invitation and furiously asks what his relationship with Haruko is and why has she nicknamed him Ta-chan? Meanwhile, outside the Judo court, Kogure notices that Hanamichi is inside and rushingly informs Takenori about it. Then two of them sneakingly watch all the drama unfold. Inside the Judo gym, Aota shows Hanamichi pictures of a young Haroko in her grade school and junior high uniform. Upon watching, Sakuragi becomes a bit excited, and a confident Aota states that he will give all these pictures to him as a compliment if he joins his club. Takenori sees the images of his little sister and becomes furious that Aota is using them as bait to recruit Hanamachi.
