Summary[]

Rukawa grabs the offensive rebound
Shohuko High sophomores continue their ongoing offense. Kogure attempts to score the jump shot. However, the ball doesn't go in. Rukawa efficiently grabs the offensive rebound. Takenori becomes a bit frustrated with his recent rebounding attempt. Upon seeing, Ayako confidently states that she was correct about Rukawa, and now he is displaying his true basketball skills. Hanamichi gets a bit irritated and curses Rukawa again for being a show-off. Sakuragi then angrily instructs his seniors to stop Rukawa from scoring. Rukawa is unfazed by Sakuragi's awkward behavior and Shohuko High's sophomores defense, and he tries to scores. Yasuharu, while guarding Rukawa, gets himself in foul trouble. Ayako notices Hanamichi's silly behavior and instructs him to act like a mature adult.
Rukawa then attempts to make the two free throws. Upon seeing, Hanamichi questions and asks Ayako why Rukawa is getting an opportunity to make free throws. Ayako states, it is called a foul shot. If a player upon scoring is fouled by his opponent during a shooting motion, then that person gets a chance to shoot foul shots. Rukawa confidently scores the first free throw. Haruko gets all excited and cheers on Rukawa. Hanamichi sees her again enthusiastic and tries to distract Rukawa by making weird faces underneath the basketball hoop. Rukawa confidently makes the second free throw and stares at Hanamichi as to what he is doing. Takenori approaches Hanamichi and tells him he is disappointed with his silly behavior, and people with low IQ like him, referring to Sakuragi, can only be affected by it. A depressed and low-spirited Hanamichi heads back to his teams' bench and requests Anzai-sensei to give him an opportunity to play in the practice match. Ayako apologizes to her coach on behalf of Hanamichi's actions. Haruko instructs Sakuragi to stop joking around and support her to cheer on the Shohuko High first-year students. Hanamichi agrees that he will support her but will not root for Rukawa.

Rukawa Slam Dunk
Haruko is confused by Hanamichi's behavior and questions why he doesn't get along with Rukawa. Ayako instructs Sakuragi to behave, and he should watch, learn and take notes from his teammates as they compete. Takenori encourages his teammates to give their best efforts to stop the first-year students from scoring. Kogure passes the ball to Takenori and attempts to score. Rukawa sees Takenori and efficiently blocks him. Everyone on the court is again amazed by Rukawa's defensive skills. Then, the Shohuko first-year students are on the offense. Rukawa has possession of the ball, and Kogure tries to stop him. Rukawa then displays his amazing dribbling skills, quickly passes Kogure, and does a vicious Slam Dunk. Upon witnessing Rukawa's better-than-expected basketball skills, all the Shohuko High members become excited. An astounded Hanamichi stares at Rukawa and realizes that he has a lot to learn from the sport of basketball.
