Takenori Akagi Slam Dunk

Takenori Akagi Slam Dunk

The exciting practice game between Shohuko High's sophomores and first-year students is about to start. Takenori and Rukawa line up at the center court for the tip-off. Takenori being a bit taller than Rukawa, both evenly touch the ball. However, Kogure still managed to retrieve the loose ball. Upon witnessing, Ayako tells Hanamichi and Haruko that, in actuality, Rukawa won the tip-off. Sakuragi informs Ayako that Rukawa is a show-off and Takenori won't be easily defeated. Hanamichi then goes into his daydreaming mode about Haruko praising him for being better than Rukawa. Ayako sees Hanamichi and gathers his attention back to the ongoing game, jokingly smacks him on the forehead.

Rukawa steals the ball and attains possession. Haruko gets excited, Hanamichi sees her, gets a bit jealous, and curses Rukawa for showing off. Ayako praises Rukawa's defensive skills. Sakuragi informs his manager it is nothing special, and it might be a coincidence. Haruko sees the intense practice game, gets confused on whom to cheer for, and wishes Rukawa to win but doesn't want her brother Takenori to lose the match. Upon hearing, Ayako then tells Haruko and Hanamichi that the Shohuko High sophomores will be victorious at the end. Haruko furiously disagrees with Ayako's judgment, and the two of them get into a friendly debate on who will win the match. Ayako then tells Haruko an interesting story about the Lakers team legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who in his freshmen year at UCLA easily defeated his upperclassmen. Upon concluding, Ayako confidently tells Haruko that Rukawa is no Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Upon listening, Haruko informs Ayako that Shohuko High isn't UCLA. Both stare at each other seriously, and a concerned Hanamichi looks at them and stays out of their conversation. Upon concluding their debate, Ayako tells Haruko not to worry; whoever wins will benefit their team.

Meanwhile, Takenori and Rukawa notice that there is a serious debate between Haruko and Ayako besides their ongoing intense practice match. Afterward, Rukawa attains possession of the ball, Shohuko High sophomore students seriously try to guard him. Yasuharu tries to steal the ball. Rukawa sees him and passes it to his teammate. Rukawa then quickly passes his adversary's defense, receives that ball back from his teammate, and then tries to score. Akagi confidently blocks him. Kogure grabs the loose ball and passes it back to Takenori, who then scores with his vicious slam dunk. Hanamichi then praises Takenori's basketball skills. A concerned Haruko tells Ayako that his brother is playing seriously against Rukawa. Upon listening, Ayako informs Haruko that she shouldn't be worried about Rukawa; the match has just begun. Ayako further stated that she knows Rukawa really well. He doesn't easily get unfazed by stronger opponents and surely believes that upon seeing such a wonderful performance from Takenori, Rukawa must be excited.
