The Afternoon without Patience (根性なしの午後, Konjō Nashi no Gogo) is the 10th chapter of the Slam Dunk manga series
Summary[]
After deciding to leave the basketball team, Sakuragi heads to a nearby local restaurant with Mito and his colleagues. They all praise Hanamichi for his efforts to last at the team this long. Mito informs his colleagues that Sakuragi is not an athlete type of individual and only joined to impress Haruko. Upon listening to his colleagues, Hanamichi recalls Takenori's words that he is impatient and lacks concentration. Sakuragi then becomes a bit low-spirited and informs that upon his departure, Haruko seemed a bit depressed.
Meanwhile, at the schools' basketball court, an angry Takenori instructs his squad to practice their passing skills seriously. Haruko informs her brother that she will head out and look for Sakuragi. Takenori disagrees and tells his sister to ignore Hanamachi because he is an impatient person who cannot even endure basic training. Upon concluding, Takenori informs that he has seen many people like Hanamichi, and unfocused people like him don't last long on the team. Haruko disagrees with her brother's judgment and insists that Sakuragi is different and heads out to look for him.
Hanamichi returns to the Shohuko High
At the restaurant, some random troublemakers make fun of Hanamichi's red hairstyle. Sakuragi and his friends then get in a confrontation with them. One of the troublemakers tries to hit Hanamichi in the chest. Sakuragi is unfazed by it and kicks him. Sakuragi then informs his colleagues that he needs to take care of something and leaves. Mito and the others members of the Sakuragi gang handle the rest of the troublemakers. Hanamichi goes back to the schools' court and sneakingly tries to see what his teammates are doing. Ayako and Kogure notice him and invites Sakuragi inside. Takenori becomes a bit irritated seeing him. Ayako tries to encourage her captain that Hanamichi is back and believes he is admitting his mistake and he should give him another chance. Takenori stares angrily at Hanamichi and instructs him to work on passing basics. Hearing the words' BASICS,' Sakuragi becomes a bit irritated. Kogure tries to encourage Hanamichi and tells him one step further in becoming a full-fledged basketball player. An exhausted Haruko makes her way back to the court and is relieved to see Sakuragi and smiles. Hanamichi sees her becomes energetic and agrees to work on the basic passing training.
